Shopping for various souvenirs, I got an  ivory bangle for myself (RS. 30. -), two bags (RS. 65. -),  a blouse for my ​​sister (RS. 25. -), four scarves (RS. 48. -),  three Indian shirts (RS. 40. -) and a  purse (RS. 15. -).

I passed by to check mails at the poste restante  to update news from Rudi (Rudolf  Bergmeister) but nothing.

DAY 132 - NEW DELHI

132) SUNDAY, 6 NOVEMBER 1977 : 0KMS. - NEW DELHI

Visiting  the RED FORT and the market nearby.  There was  a wide range of products sold in the market, mostly  fabric stores (or fabric market) the same as the well-known fabric market “Pahurat & Sampeng” in Bangkok.   

The Red Fort was the residence of the Mughal emperors of India for nearly 200 years, until 1857. It is located in the centre of Delhi and houses a number of museums. Wikipedia

There was traditional Sunday market on the roadside.  Lots of people came to purchase everything they needed.  Many bicycles and  horse carriages, rickshaws and buses  were moving along on the same road.

DAY 131 - NEW DELHI

131) SATURDAY, 5 NOVEMBER 1977 : 0KMS. - NEW DELHI

I bought a nice magnifying glass for my father (RS. 13.50) and  3 printed  Indian sarongs  (RS. 50. -).

I added up total distance traveled  since leaving MUNICH  until arriving  to NEW DELHI as of today, a total distance of 15,096 kms.

DAY 130 - NEW DELHI

130) FRIDAY, 4 NOVEMBER 1977 : 0KMS. - NEW DELHI

 

Our campervan have gone through the engine check up  in the garage.  We went to pick up my passport from the embassy of NEPAL and bought several  small carved ivory elephants @ RS. 30.- each and a bag at RS. 10. -.

DAY 129 - NEW DELHI

129) THURSDAY, 3 NOVEMBER 1977 : 0KMS. - NEW DELHI

 

I exchanged another  US $ 200. -. In the afternoon, we went to apply for visa for NEPAL.  The tourist visa charge was RS. 45. - . We also went to public health station to have injection of the cholera vaccine.
