56) MONDAY, 22 AUGUST 1977 : 0KMS. - ISFAHAN (ESFAHAN)

Chacking out from camping place to park in the free area in front of the Shah's Mosque Square to revisit it again.

We went to look around the big bazaar.  I found very nice fine paintings called  miniatures.

There were also metal (brass ad copper )  plates with interesting patterned work.  Mostly, the workmanship was not so fine but the fine ones made by skilled handicrafts  are very nice and costly, which I did not think to buy.

Around the square area in front of  Shah's Mosque at night, there were  students studying  to prepare for their exams almost all night long. They took advantage of the light all around for reading.

DAY 55 - ISFAHAN

55) SUNDAY, 21 AUGUST 1977 : 0KMS - ISFAHAN (ESFAHAN).

Writing 8 post cards to send back home and friends, telling where we are right now and washing the rest of used laundry.

Sheikh Lotf Allah Mosque is one of the architectural masterpieces of Safavid Iranian architecture, standing on the eastern side of Naghsh-i Jahan Square, Isfahan, Iran. Construction of the mosque started in 1615 and was finished in 1618. It was built by Shah Abbas I of the Safavid dynasty.
The building functioned as a prayer hall and lecture hall.

Shah's Mosque is beautiful and massive size with delicate texture decoration designs . It is the Muslim construction art using contrast colorful pattern designs.

The construction art of the tiers on top of the entrance façade looks very strange and interesting as well as decorative tiles of the  dome exterior are very fine and beautiful.

Isfahan’s Friday Mosque has been inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List, making it the 14th Iranian site registered on the roll. The independent, 21-member World Heritage Committee announced the news during their 36th session in Saint Petersburg, Russia.  Isfahan’s Friday mosque is the oldest preserved edifice of its type in Iran and a prototype for later mosque designs throughout Central Asia. DAY 53 - ISFAHAN

Another day for cleaning and washing clothes. We went out strolling around our camping area in the evening.

DAY 52 - ISFAHAN

52) THURSDAY, 18 AUGUST 1977 : 0KMS. - Camping place, ISFAHAN

A big cleaning day for interior of the campervan, vacuumed the floor and brought some pieces of clothes like jeans to the luandry (each costed 30.- Rials).

In the evening, we bought some vegetables for cooking our dinner - eggplants (aubergines) fried with basil leaves Thai style..
