DAY 51 - ISFAHAN (ESFAHAN)

51) WEDNESDAY, 17 AUGUST 1977 : 420KMS. - ISFAHAN (ESFAHAN)

We left TEHRAN and continued to ISFAHAN (ESFAHAN) , in the south of TEHRAN on the  route through the mountains. We passed a wast arid and desert-like landscape. It was very hot and I drank  so much water that I did not feel hungry. A hot wind blew inside I could hardly breathe, like it used to be once in Greece. We had to close windows.

We spotted some caravanserais, old and exotic looks, with high walls on all 4 sides and round-shape roof.  The roofs were like domes but shorter and smaller, they were number of consecutive small domes.  We looked through the inside and saw a large courtyard in the middle area.

On some parts along the way, the wind blew up high in the air with sand dust. Obviously it was a whirlwind, moved steadily forward.

We arrived ISFAHAN about 5.00 p.m. and parked our campervan at the provided camping area in front of Youth Hostel. We paid rather expensive for  the parking charge per day at 250.- Rial.
