DAY 213 - ARAMBOL BEACH

213) THURSDAY, 26 JANUARY 1978 : 0KMS. - ARAMBOL BEACH

I made up my mind to fly back home from MADRAS (CHENNAI) because it is a city with international flights departing to other international airports.  I began getting tired of a life, kept moving in the campervan, and I thought  that I had seen and experienced quite something in India.  Only one thing I felt sorry then was that  I  had to inevitably  miss to  visit the death place of the Lord Buddha in Kushinara.

I had to blame myself that I did not earlier find out or seek for the direction to Kushinara  seriously.  I never knew that it was not far from ALAHABAD but I did not have much information

Anyhow,  I had to return  home, I was running out of pocket money as I had to keep enough amount to spend when I was back in Thailand while waiting to work again.

My friend, Tilo would go on his way to the south of India and would not retrace our former routes.  The further routes would be down to the peninsular end and  then up north into PAKISTAN on his way back to Europe

DAY 212 - VAGATOR BEACH

The village fishermen, the same fishermen group of last night who were interested in our campervan came to have a closer look of the interior.

They also brought us some young coconuts. The coconut meat was rightly tender and its water was sweet.  It was my first chance to taste fresh coconut again after a long period of almost 5 years.

I probably had a homesick as I left home for many years already. I really felt wanting to say goodbye to my friend Tilo and to R E T U R N  home very soon!

DAY 211 - VAGATOR BEACH

211) TUESDAY, 24 JANUARY 1978 : 0KMS. - VAGATOR BEACH

I woke up early to see the work effort of village fishermen pulling in fishing nets, laid last night, on the beach whether they had reasonable gained.

I saw the women and children sitting casting fishes from the nets. There were more smaller fishes than larger ones : sea snakes, sharks, jellyfishes,  prawns, and  crabs.

I expected they might get some  lobsters that we could buy from them  but they got only small size of prawns.  So we bought some to boil and peel for frying with eggs and pepper. It was delicious because we did not taste fresh seafood for many months.

After our breakfast , we walked  along the beach to the north about 2 kms. away.  We stopped along the way periodically.  In the early evening, on the way back, it was very low-tide that we could walk down very far on the beach. The locals came to collect shellfish from the sand as well as to catch some fishes along the rocks.
