211) TUESDAY, 24 JANUARY 1978 : 0KMS. - VAGATOR BEACH
I woke up early to see the work effort of village fishermen
pulling in fishing nets, laid last
night, on the beach whether they had reasonable gained.
I saw the women and children sitting casting fishes from
the nets. There were more smaller fishes
than larger ones : sea snakes, sharks, jellyfishes, prawns, and crabs.

I expected they might get some lobsters that we could buy from them but they got only small size of prawns. So we
bought some to boil and peel for frying with eggs
and pepper. It was delicious because we
did not taste fresh seafood for many months.

After
our breakfast , we walked along the beach to the north about 2 kms. away. We stopped along the way periodically.
In the early evening, on the way back, it was very
low-tide that we could walk down very far on the beach. The
locals came to collect shellfish from
the sand as well as to catch some fishes along the rocks.
