DAY 205 - PANAJI



205) WEDNESDAY, 18 JANUARY 1978 : 200KMS. - PANAJI

 
We arrived  PANAJI,  the state capital of GOA, which is a popular place for hippies.  The city used to be  under Portuguese possession as colony, led by Alfonso d’Albuquerque  or commonly  known as Albuquerque  the Great  in 1510.

The Catholic  Christianity then had  started  to settle in India.  GOA  became under the rule of India later in 1961.

There were remains of bastions and  churches  of  older days and new ones.  Many traditional style - large villa houses  remain to be seen.
